Conceived in 2002, born in 2004 as a business and maturing in 2008 as a non-profit organization providing safe, affordable housing for displaced adults in need.
Following Hurricane Rita in 2005 and Hurricane Ike in 2008, the lack of safe, affordable housing for adults continues to be the most difficult and unmet need of recovery.
THE BOARDING HOME MODEL:
A vintage housing option very relevant in today's economy. For several decades, the "Boarding Home" was a popular living choice among mainstream American adults. As WWII came to an end, economic conditions improved and adults began leaving boarding homes to buy their own homes. Boarding homes declined in popularity, but never fully disappeared. As the need for safe, affordable housing increases, the Boarding Home has revived. Ever increasing in popularity, it is a cost effective, viable option in meeting the housing needs of adults who cannot, or wish not, to live alone.
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP:
Donate today! With your financial help, we can provide a safe, affordable place to live for an ever-increasing population of "forgotten citizens." Dignity and self-worth have all but disappeared in people that were once proud, self-assured, and able to meet their own needs.
